Scrap pile burns.

Yesterday started off like any other day. Woke up, did chores, had breakfast. Planned out the day. I had my sights set on spending the afternoon in my sewing room finishing up some projects. J and D went outside to light a scrap pile on fire. J thought we were still good because it was surrounded by ice.

Unfortunately it was not all that safe and the tall very dead grass that was left from last years drought caught fire and it very quickly was too much for them to handle. I contacted our local Emergency Response. It is a group of neighbors with water tanks in pick ups and a water tanker truck. We got it under control in about 20 minutes. No structures were damaged. Only thing that is left is charred grass and a pile of nails where the pile was.

Going through that yesterday got me to thinking about how Yah puts us to the fire. Just like we burn old scrap piles he helps us burn down our innermost scrap. The path of charred grass will transform into beautiful new grass because the old was consumed in the fire. How has Yah been refining you? Has he been burning things off of you so that you will be revived?

Transformation isn’t just outward. Sure sometimes there is a profound external change. But the inward transformation that comes from shedding the world’s view of things and adopting the way that Scripture lays out. Is like setting fire to dead grass. The works we did without the relationship with the Father. To now growing new and in abundance because our trust is secure in the Father and we follow what he has commanded.
