Hello friends and welcome back to the blog. Today I am going to share with you a yummy sweet treat. It uses simple ingredients and is such an easy make.

This was a fudge my mom used to make. Sometimes you just need to have a little something special. You don’t need super fancy tools to make this fudge. Now it isn’t fool proof, you still need to pay attention to how it is acting.

Much like with any candy making, you will need to watch for how it is bubbling; how long it boils and then when it is the perfect timing you can add a flavor if you wish. I generally keep it au natural. My mom was not a complicated person.

So let’s get to the recipe.

Easy Caramel Fudge

From the Mountain Meadow

Rich, buttery caramel fudge made with 4 simple ingredients.

INGREDIENTS

  1. 400 grams (2 Cups) brown sugar

  2. 400 grams (1 Can) sweetened condensed milk

  3. 110 grams ( 1 Stick, 8 TBSP) butter

  4. 15 grams (1 TBSP) golden corn syrup

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Line the bottom and sides of an 8×8 pan ( or one of your choosing) with parchment paper, or grease with butter.

  2. Combine the butter, brown sugar, condensed milk and syrup together in a medium size saucepan. Cook on medium-low heat until the butter and sugar is dissolved.

  3. Reduce the heat to low and simmer the mixture for 15 minutes stirring constantly.

  4. To test if the fudge is ready, drop a small piece of the mixture into a glass of cold water.

  5. If you can form a firm ball then the fudge is ready. If not, cook for another 5 minutes and try again.

  6. If using a candy thermometer it should be 116 C or 240 F

  7. OPTIONAL: To make the fudge super creamy, transfer the mixture to a mixing bowl with paddle attachment and beat for around 5 minutes or until you notice the fudge starting to set.

  8. Transfer to the prepared pan and place it in the fridge to set.

  9. Once set, cut into bars or squares and store in an airtight container in the fridge.

  10. Try not to eat all of them at once and you may need to hide these from the rest of the family.

I hope you enjoy this fudge recipe. The best variations I have found is adding flavors from Watkins, one of our family favorites is the root beer.

Until next time friends….
